No spying required.

I purchased this book from Amazon, without being able to view any of the pictures inside. The title led me to believe my daughter would be searching for letters amid a jumble of other pictures, (like a "Where's Waldo" for the alphabet!) but sadly, that is not the case. Each page features only two jumbo-sized letters, and the rhyming prose discusses the designs or patterns featured on the letters. This is NOT a book that requires your little one to play "I spy" or to hunt for letters. This is just another book about letters for parents to read to their kids. While there's certainly nothing wrong with reading books to children, I feel this book is purposefully deceptive in its marketing. Thus, the low rating.

I spy a letter sitting right in front of me....

Sadly, there is nothing to spy in this book. Nothing is hidden, the letters are just right there. Just sitting there on a blank, white page. No searching whatsoever.

The age range for this book is listed as 3-5. Wrong. My 2-year old isn't even amused.

So, if you are looking for a letter book, I do think this one is nice, but don't buy this if you are expecting the typical "I Spy" format.

My 2 year old loves the classic I spy with the cluttered pages. These pages are too sparse, with only 3 to 5 large items per page so my 2 year was easily bored.

He encourages landscape architects and city planners to utilize trees, not as decoration, but as living building materials to create and reinforce urban spaces. The revised Second Edition adds practical value to the work, answering many of the questions that were raised as a result of the original volume. Trees in Urban Design, Second Edition, concentrates two new chapters on the more utilitarian issues of urban tree planting. Chapter Six deals substantively with the significant changes in urban tree-planting techniques that have evolved since the original edition was printed. Chapter Seven deals with the revolution in urban forestry that has taken place during this same period, the economics of urban tree planting, and the essential government role in this immensely important work. The book also suggests a realistic method of budgeting for tree planting and maintenance. About the Author
About the Author Henry F. Arnold is an experienced landscape architect who began his career as a land use planner for the Delaware County Planning Commission, in Pennsylvania. He then practiced landscape architecture for nine years as an associate and then as a partner in the firm of Dan Kiley and Partners and has since been involved in his own practice in Princeton, New Jersey. In 1970 he served as a consultant to the Ministry of National Development in Singapore. During 1975 and 1976 he was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Urban Design at Pratt Institute. Mr. Arnold studied forestry and landscape architecture at Pennsylvania State University and received his degree in landscape architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.

Essential reading for landscape architects and designers

As a practicing urban designer, I reference this book on a weekly basis. It provides a clear and concise understanding of how trees perform in urban conditions, from conceptual use in spatial definition to planting details. Many of Arnold's ideas were revelations to me, even after five years of training in landscape architecture. Unfortunately, the volume is somewhat dated, especially in its notes on current cultivar disease resistance. Still, highly recommended.

This book was a revelation to me back in the '80s and has greatly influenced the advice I give to clients and what I teach my students.
It is a 'must-read'for all those responsible for planting trees and designing outdoor spaces in urban areas.

Loved It!!!

This book is a short story but it's fun, flirty, hot and it even comes with a warning... "This book contains handcuffs, hair pulling, perverted Valentine's cards, and all other sorts of naughty. This book is NOT intended for anyone who dislikes sex scenes, bad boys, or nerds with kinky sides. Read at your own risk." If this doesn't tell you that you should read it I don't know what will. I Loved it! If you haven't read anything by CM Stunich then you really should because you are missing out. ♥

Short, hysterical, and hot!!

I found out about this book through a Facebook page I follow and the title immediately caught my eye. I got it yesterday and read it in just a few hours. I laughed through the whole thing. Andi's inner thoughts are beyond funny and she is really relatable. She is a very horny virgin caught between the hot campus lothario and the seemingly gentile campus nerd. Hilarity ensues as she gets caught between the two guys and a secret admirer! What I really loved was the realistic portrayal of the characters and Andi's reason for maintaining her virginity at her age was completely believable.

I really enjoyed this. Read it!!! You'll be glad you did.

This was EXACTLY the sort of read I needed - short, funny, to the point, hot. It was perfect.

Andi is our girl in this book and what a girl she is! She's 20, at college, single and still a virgin. Valentines Day is quickly approaching and like any girl in her situation she was absolutely dreading it.

"One week until under appreciated singles' day."

Andi spends the book trying to choose between; Quinn, the hot bad ass guy who's had just about his fair share of every woman at college or Preston, the hot geek who just so happens to be a Professor's Assistant at the college.

Both men have their positives but what makes the decision so hard? The fact that she has a secret admirer out there who won't stop sending her notes. Notes like the picture of a penis she now carries around in her bag. So what must Andi do? Well, sample both Quinn and Preston of course.

The whole book was freaking hilarious. The inner thoughts of Andi and her 'rational and horny side' arguing was brilliant. Sometimes you don't need to take a book too seriously to enjoy it and this was just that kind of book.

intriguing

"The voidoid" is an intriguing piece of work that, at first merely leaves a fuzzy mark on your memory. The first time reading it you're not quite sure what you have just read. It is one of those books that is deserving of being looked over more than once to hear the authors intent and to form a purpose for every spontaneous quotation or meaning for every irregular symbol. R. Hell uses the words "weird jewel" and "filthy aerial photo" to describe his book. These words, like the book "The Voidoid," are unspecific and only leave the reader with more questions and a want to see things as the author has seen them. For me, it's this curiousity that gives the book its strength. It is one of those book that i need to reread several times because i feel as if reading it once has only left me with a glimpse of its entirety...

We own quite a few of the national geographic readers and we love them all. They are appropriately laid out for young readers, my daughter loves the riddles/jokes and she loves learning interesting facts about the animals and sharing them with the family. I am very pleased with this purchase and will continue to buy others in the series.

Debbie Silver is truly a “teacher’s teacher!” She is a former science teacher and an award-winning educator with 30 years experience as a classroom teacher, staff development instructor, and university professor. Her numerous recognitions include being named the 1990 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year and the 2007 Distinguished Alumnus from the College of Education at Louisiana Tech University. Along the way she has taught almost every grade level and most every kind of student.

Debbie is one of the most popular keynoters and professional development presenters in the United States. Audiences everywhere respond to her use of humor and sensitivity to remind them of how important teachers are in the lives of children. Her insights into student and teacher behavior are extraordinary. Through research-based theory, poignant stories, and hilarious characterizations she connects with the souls of all who are involved in education.

Excellent for Parents and Educators

An excellent resource for both teachers and parents. Debbie points out some great insight into children's educational experiences and she gives some great examples. Her writing style allows her ideas to be quite clear. It is a must read for all.

I purchased this book for a book study group at work so I have only read the first several chapters, but I very much like the author's writing style and view point. The book was in excellent, new condition as advertised.
