The anthology includes Interim by Barbara Cassidy; Tragedy: a tragedy by Will Eno; Nine Come by Elana Greenfield; Shufu-Sachiko and Enoshima Island by Madelyn Kent; The Appeal by Young Jean Lee; The Vomit Talk of Ghosts by Kevin Oakes; Ajax (por nobody) by Alice Tuan; Apparition, an uneasy play of the underknown by Anne Washburn; Demon Baby by Erin Courtney. Mac Wellman is the author of numerous plays and the recipient of three Obie awards, most recently in 2003 for lifetime achievement. He is professor of playwriting at Brooklyn College. About the Author
Mac Wellman's recent work includes The Difficulty of Crossing a Field (with composer David Lang) at Montclair State University in the fall of 2006, and 1965 UU, for performer Paul Lazar, directed by Stephen Mellor at the Chocolate Factory in the fall of 2008. He is also working on two plays for chorus: The Invention of Tragedy (Classic Stage Company) and Nine Days Falling (commissioned by the Stuck Pigs Company of Melbourne, Australia). He has received numerous honors, including both NEA and Guggenheim Fellowships. In 2003 he received his third Obie, for Lifetime Achievement. In 2006 his third novel, Q'S Q, was published by Green Integer, and in 2008, a volume of stories entitled A CHRONICLE OF THE MADNESS OF SMALL WORLDS was published by Trip Street Press, as well as a new collection of plays, The Difficulty of Crossing a Field, by Minnesota Press. His recent books of poetry are MINIATURE (2002), STRANGE ELEGIES (2006) and SPLIT THE STICK: A MINIATURIST-DIVAN (2012), all from Roof Books. His play LEFT GLOVE was published by Solid Objects in 2011. He is the Donald I. Fine Professor of Playwriting at Brooklyn College.

Young Jean Lee is the founder of the Young Jean Lee's Theater Company where she directs her own work. She has been invited to tour venues in Vienna, Hanover, Berlin, Switzerland, Brussels, Norway, France, Rotterdam, Portland, Seattle, Columbus, Pittsburgh and Minneapolis. She is the recipient of a 2007 Emerging Playwright OBIE Award.

Grade 5-7–Elgin examines the Renaissance through Shakespeare's writings. Each volume focuses on one particular aspect of life and uses quotes from the plays to help explain the topic. The coverage is definitely limited by the format. The explanations of the topic within the broader topic (e.g., Non-Professional Healers or Surviving Birth and Childhood in Health are of necessity brief, but clear. The addition of Shakespearean text for each such topic, however, muddies the water because vocabulary, as well as content, becomes an issue. Difficult words are defined within the text; another 40 or 50 are included in the glossaries. That's a lot of unfamiliar terms in a 29-page text. Illustrations include paintings, etchings, and photographs; no sources for these materials are given. Text appears over what seems to be a facsimile of the type of paper Shakespeare used. Quotes from different plays (repeating part of a quote already on the page) wind around the borders of most pages; to read them, one must rotate the book. The Facthound Web sites are on Shakespeare, the Globe Theatre, and Tudor England; all use fairly sophisticated vocabulary. While students need an understanding of Shakespeare's life and times to better comprehend his plays, Elgin's approach is problematic for this age group. The best book available on pranayama technique

In my opinion, this is the best book available anywhere for the serious yoga student who wants to master yogic breathing techniques. It is even better than Light on Pranayama by Iyengar.
The first and third parts of the book focus on some ancient pranayama philosophy, to which Western readers may or may not wish to subscribe. But most of the book is a fabulous practical guide to virtually all the breathing methods. Included as well are proper sitting postures, mudras (hand positions), and bandhas (anatomical locks to maximize results), all well illustrated.
Unlike some books on the subject, this one does not shy away from describing khumbaka, or breath retention. It is the key to controlling the tendency of the mind to jump from thought to thought (although the author warns to attempt khumbaka only with expert guidance).
If you think Yoga is merely an exercise routine, as seen on U.S. TV, this book will take you to the next level. Hatha yoga is more about breathing than stretching. This book can improve your life -- really.
