It really works!

My family and I have periodically brought our nutrition intake into line by following the nutrition guidelines in this book.
Dr, Haas' program is easy to follow, flexible and brings results! There are recipies, levels that reward results, and some common-sense dietary changes that can really do you good!
For me (male, age 50), most recently (over the past 90 days) I enjoyed 20 lb. weight loss to my weight of 25 years ago (from 180 to 160), total cholesterol from 193 to 151, HDL (good cholesterol) from 29 to 36 and LDL (bad cholesterol) from 129 to 101. Moderate exercise before and throughout (no significant increase). My doctor's office even asked for my copy of the program!

Eat to Win is tough, but worth it

I've "done" this diet three or four times over the years to get back on track nutritionally and physically. Following its four-week menu, the results are amazing. If a user begins by getting the blood chemistry profile Haas recommends at the beginning of the book and a follow-up profile at the end of the four-week period, the improvements are undeniable. My doctor was impressed.
I'm not sure what some of the other commenters below are talking about when they complain about processed foods or insulin levels. The only problem with the diet is that most of the food isn't very tasty. It lacks the fat, salt, and processed sugary foods that so many Americans are addicted to, so some folks may experience something like withdrawal during the first weeks of the diet. There's only one way to look at this though: getting out of the habit of eating these unhealthy foods is probably exactly what your body needs (as more and more Americans do all the time witness the epidemic of overweight, sluggish people in this country).
Bottom line: this is a rigorous diet. If you're tough and determined, and follow the instructions properly, you will look and feel years younger. You will discover you have more energy. Perhaps more energy than you will know what to do with. I'm not a jock either. I'm a computer programmer, but I've done this diet. I know it works.

Great book!

I've used the information in this book for a very long time, and it is the most effective diet i've found of maintaining correct body weight, and increasing physical and mental performance. Although the book is old, the advice is solid and I don't beleive it will ever become outdated. I only have one small complaint, and that is at times Dr. Haas comes across as too strict on sticking to the eating plan. Ocassional deviation from it, I think is necessary to stay balanced! No need to worry _too_ much about fat consumption. Nonetheless, it deserves 5 stars

An Oregon lawyer exiled from Portland to the sticks grabs at a high-profile murder case as his one and only chance to turn his life around--and that's only the most obvious clich‚ in this pot of refried beans. ``You possess the intelligence to be a good lawyer, but you're lazy and self-centered,'' Peter Hale's father harangues him just after Peter's arrogance and incompetence shut a client out of a well-deserved settlement, and just before he banishes him to legal serfdom in backwoods Whitaker. Well-tailored Peter fumes as he watches his old school friend Steve Mancini run rings around him in their separate defenses of Christopher Mammon and Kevin Booth, two lugs charged with serious coke possession. But salvation seems at hand when Steve maneuvers Peter into defending Gary Harmon, who's facing the death penalty for aggravated homicide after a third Whitaker State coed is killed with a hatchet. A gung-ho cop's persuaded sweet, retarded Gary, who'd had a public confrontation with an approachable blond who brushed him off shortly before the murder, that the couple he saw necking in Wishing Well Park was actually the killer and his latest victim--and then insinuated Gary into the frame by appealing to his psychic powers. A MUST READ LEGAL THRILLER!!!

I have read other Margolin books but this one is the best I have read. It started a little slow and the main character, Peter Hale, made mistakes a lawyer should not make reguardless the field of law he is in. Hale has been sent to Oregon because he has messed up where he is. He is caught up in the middle of a murder case involving a mentally retarded man. Did the man murder the woman? All things point to him doing in at first. But there are many differnet things involved. As Assistant DA who will stop at nothing, legal or not. A brother-in-law, who is also an attorney, that just does not seem right about the case. If the retarted man is convicted can Peter safe him before he is sentenced? Who really is the killer? You will be surprised, at least I was. A book I did not want to put down. I wanted to read faster and faster to see if Gary, the retarted man, would be saved. I could not believe he would be convicted. I thought if I read faster the crime would be solved faster, I guess. Was there an undercover cop? If so which one. If you like legal mysteries you will like this one.

A capitivating mystery

Young and arrogrant, Peter Hale was sent to a back-woods town for a lesson in humility after fumbling a major case for his father. Driven from his life of priviledge where nothing but the finest would do ~~ Peter takes on another case and this time, learns a lesson about human nature. He took on a case of a mentally-retarded man who is accused of killing a young college co-ed. This same man was also caught just a few weeks prior as a peeping tom at the local college. This man is also a brother-in-law of Peter's former college classmate ~~ another reason why Peter took on the case.
This book is full of twists and turns that Margolin is famous for ~~ and his writing captivates your attention from beginning to the end. Margolin shows human nature at its worst and shows it at its best ~~ and though you thought you have it all figured out ~~ he surprises you again. It's a fun and fast legal thriller ~~ perfect for summer reading. I had a blast reading this book and so did everyone who I loaned this book to!

Still Searching

I am still searching for an author who can take over this genre. Phillip Margolin's "Burning Man" fell way short of expectation. The book was very trite and very predictable, with to many Grishamish charatcers. Margolin throws all the typical ingredents in the book stirs them up and you get the same results, just another blah lawyer novel.
Since William Coughlin's death and John Grisham writing movie books, there is no writer in this genre to be the leader. Margolin is worth another read, but if your looking for something inspired and different this is not the book to be reading.

Heroism at it's finest.

This a remarable story about the greatest and last major sea battle in history. The heroism displayed by American fighting men was beyond believable but actually happened. Every American school kid should have this as mandatory reading.

Once More Unto the Breach

This is my 5th book on the Battle of Leyte Gulf, but it is by far one of the best. Leyte was such an amazing moment in history. Despite all the odds being against the American's, their sheer audacity turned the tide of the battle and grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat. I cannot think of a moment in history that made me more emotional than Ernest Evans turning his small destroyer into the Japanese armada and charging into certain death. His tiny boat up against destroyers, cruisers, and the largest battleship ever built is mind-numbing. Stan Smith captures that moment and so many others like it beautifully in his take on the battle. I thoroughly enjoyed how well the book flowed. Great Read!

Beware - not new stories! Reissues!

Just wanted to put in a quick note that this is a reissue collection. The book contains the first two books in the Coulter family series: Phantom Waltz and Sweet Nothings. So don't buy this is you're expecting something new by Catherine Anderson - it isn't! A good deal for those who have neither of those books, though - it's cheaper than buying them seperately.

That being said, both of these stories are very touching, and I highly recommend the entire series, which includes: Baby Love, Phantom Waltz, Sweet Nothings, Blue Skies, Bright Eyes, My Sunshine, Summer Breeze and Sun Kissed.

Admiration and Praise

What a great way to enjoy and author. The service from Amazon and their suppliers was exemplary. After ordering 12 books in the series, I just finished the last one early this morning. These came at a great time for me. Thank you. Oh yeah, Ms. Anderson's writing only intensified my love and enjoyment of finally finding the "love of my life". That is no easy task for anyone, and it can only be accomplished with God's help. Thank you Ms. Anderson for recognizing not only the perpetual omnipotence of Our LORD, but the true meaning of being "in love".

As Salaam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah. The pen reader sound is crystal clear. Translation is superb. Must have for anyone who wants to get closer to the creator (Allah). You can get translation for the whole sura or ayat by ayat. If you really want to learn how to pronounce the Arabic verses or learn the meaning of the quran, It is a great tool and resource. he really enjoyed learning from it

I ordered it as a gift for my Dad, he really enjoyed learning from it, as the sound was very clear and it has more of a personal feel to it. The translations of it is phenomenal and the device is very easy to use and handle. I also enjoyed listening to a variety of reciters from it. I would highly recommend this product for anyone wanting to memorize the Qu'ran, as they can read on their on and perfect their recitations when reading specific verses from the Qu'ran. I feel if one is dedicated to learning the Qu'ran and uses this product well, it can be an excellent tool to help them come closer to Allah. May Allah reward you for all your efforts in coming up with such a product! Ameen!!

Shocker!!!

Damn, I can't believe people don't know the difference between a review and a summary. People please don't spoil the book for the next reader by telling the damn story.There are a lot of surprises in this story that most want/need to find out for themselves. I read this book in a couple of hours because it kept me interested and I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. It had a few errors but not that many too take away from the story. Poor Kaylee just can't catch a break. The story picks up where part one left off at. I still can't stand JaKari's ass. That ending though, can't wait for part three. I will be getting it. If you read part one you most definitely must read this, and if you haven't read neither one you're definitely missing out on a good story. Ra is still the man!!

All I can say is WOW, this book was definitely worth the wait I was not expecting this to go down in book 2 the way they did. I cried a few times while reading this.....I had a feeling I knew who Jackies boyfriend was but this book confirmed it. I can't wait to see what happens in part 3.

I couldn't wait for part 2 and it was not a disappointment ! It's crazy all the problems this family has faced together but that's what makes their bond stronger ... I can't believe the ending though and can't wait for part 3 ! Good job !

HORRIBLE!!

This is the worst written text book I have ever had to purchase for a class and I would strongly encourage any professors out there looking for a text book to explore other options and any students to drop any class that requires this book.

The book is written as endless walls of text and the author writes in a very confusing manner making the book 3 times as long as it needs to be. The author wastes line after line of text yammering on about pointless stuff like how we will be covering more of this topic in chapters 5, 7 and 9 respectively. He also uses extensive citations of the works of others to the point that by the time you get back to the main point you forgot what he was trying to say to begin with. Many of his citations are from the 1960's too which makes the book feel really out of date.

If you need this class to graduate and can't drop it and take one with a different text then I strongly suggest buying the Kindle edition since you can search a kindle book and copy and paste out of it. A great trick for learning with this book is to copy and paste a page into Word and then delete all of the superfluous BS on that page and then read the 3 important sentences that are left.

In case anyone doesn't believe me about this book, please see the half page I have copied and pasted here. The rest of the book is no better. There are 590 pages just like this in this book. Really think about dropping the class that would have you read this. I am on Amazon right now looking for a different PM book so I can actually learn this topic. I learned little from this book because real information was just too diluted and I was halfway through the class before I started editing it in Word for myself.

knowledge areas 3, 5, and 8, respectively. Time management is an extensive topic which
is further discussed in Chapters 8, 10, and 11. Similarly, risk will be discussed further in
Chapters 7 and 8, and quality will be discussed again in Chapter 12.
In the Reader's Digest (March 1998, p. 49) Peter Drucker is quoted on planning: "Plans
are only good intentions unless they immediately degenerate into hard work." To make such a
transformation possible is no easy task. Inadequate planning is a cliché in project management.
Occasionally, articles appear in project management periodicals attesting to the value of good
planning. Project managers pay little attention. PMs say, or are told, that planning "takes too
much time," "customers don't know what they want," "if we commit we will be held accountable," and a number of similar weak excuses (Bigelow, 1998, p. 15). Tom Peters, well-known
seeker of business excellence, was quoted in the Cincinnati Post: "Businesses [believe] a lot of
dumb things. . . . The more time you spend planning, the less time you'll need to spend on implementation. Almost never the case! Ready. Fire. Aim. That's the approach taken by businesses I
most respect." We strongly disagree and, as we will report below (and in Chapter 13), there is a
great deal of research supporting the view that careful planning is solidly associated with project
success--and none, to our knowledge, supporting the opposite position. On the other hand,
sensible planners do not kill the plan with overanalysis. This leads to the well-known "paralysis
by analysis." In an excellent article, Langley (1995) fi nds a path inbetween the two extremes.
Thus far, we have dealt with initiating a project. Now we are ready to begin the process of
planning the work of the project in such a way that it may be translated into the "hard work"
that actually leads to the successful completion of the project. There are several reasons why
we must use considerable care when planning projects. The primary purpose of planning, of
course, is to establish a set of directions in suffi cient detail to tell the project team exactly what
must be done, when it must be done, what resources will be required to produce the deliverables of the project successfully, and when each resource will be needed.
As we noted in Chapter 1, the deliverables (or scope, or specifi cations, or objectives) of
a project are more than mere descriptions of the goods and/or services we promise to deliver
to the client at a quality level that will meet client expectations. The scope of a project also
includes the time and cost required to complete the project to the client's satisfaction. The plan

SAVE YOUR MONEY - DO NOT BUY!

This book makes learning Project management difficult. It does not clearly define anything. It is full of endless (and senseless) babble and author's "opinions" very few facts. I fully believe this is a required text because of the website Wiley created and the "bonus" cd of Project 2002. The website makes teaching the class a breeze, it gives the teacher quizzes and tests, therefore, the teacher doesn't have to muddle through the maze of crap to find out information. The quizzes are not general but tipically, "what message did the author's try to convey on page such and such".
This book is not worth it!
