I don't know why I didn't quite enjoy this book? I am a huge Nora Roberts fan but this reprint from 1984 just didn't do it for me.
It's a story of Megan, whom after losing her parents at a young age, has been brought up my her Grandfather. Together they own and run Joyland....a old but fun amusement park! In her spare time she is an artist with a studio above the garage!
At the begining of the book you meet Katch, who just happens to know all about her but it is never explained why or how? He is very cocky but then you learn he has a heart and uses his money for good, like building a hospital! I mean it's cute but then again come on!!!!
They end up fighting through the entire book....and then fall in love in the end...it just didn't flow well. And they never said what happens to Joyland at the end...and the book was based around that main aspect!!
It was a very quick read that wasn't bad but wasn't very good....but better than some books out there!

This book honestly is where some of the ideas for Roberts bestselling book. Megan (which is gaelic for Margaret, who is the lead in Born in Fire) is an artist, who is unaware of how talented she is, etc etc. I felt like I was reading a total rip off, but I suppose since this book was done in 1984, it gave time for Roberts to perfect her craft, to allow her to write a masterpiece such as Born in Fire. Overall, you're much better skipping this one.

was way below her usual level of writing. The characters behave
in a ridiculous manner, and the story just leaves you asking
...what???
Really not her best. After reading it i threw it in the trash
which is really unusual for me.

A truly great book. I am distilled in awe.

I'm an urban and regional planner and i bought this book because i wanted to know more about architectural plans and building codes. Haven't really gotten around because of side projects, but i have leisurely reviewed this book and it has all these great tips on how to read floor plans. The explanations are detailed,tests are included, and it also has large floor plans folded neatly in the book!! I recommend it to anyone interested in the modest art of reading structural diagrams! great reference guide to have at your office/cubicle.

Great, dense, a tad out-dated

This textbook was full of useful information, and it was used by a teacher of mine when she presented an architectural drafting and blueprint class. It was a great reference, and even the photos were a bit outdated, most of the technology and engineering advice has stayed consistent. It would be nice if there was an addendum added that spoke more about efficient use of energy in the residence, and green tech, but again, we're dealing with a slightly different era. This is a great book just to have for building and/or sketching reference.
It has large, fold-out sketches of real buildings, and it gets into HVAC, landscape, foundations, and many other parts of building and engineering than I expected from an architectural planning text. This was my first foray into this type of book in this subject matter, and it was very good. A little dense, but good.

Basic Guide

This is the required textbook for class. The exams given to us are directly from the book, so it was necessary to purchase this book. But as the professor points out, there is some information that is incorrect or outdated. Only an experienced Architect or Contractor can sort out the information in this book and make an effective critique. In my opinion, some of the explanations are too short, leaving the student with many questions. I guess this book can be considered as a basic guide.

I wouldn't say I'm an enthusiastic book reader, and this one was a bit of "punt", so I was really surprised how good it was. No more to say really, so as not to spoil it, but I'm looking around for more, from this author.

Kabul Gold - a precious metal of a first novel

Amazingly, this is Darren Rodell's first novel and introduces the credible and likeable hero, Daniel Temple, an ex-SAS captain who is forced out of a short retirement to seek and destroy an evil empire and its leader.

If you enjoy fast-paced, action and adventure stories then I can strongly recommend this book. I managed to get through it in two sittings which speaks volumes for its storyline and the need to find out 'what happens next'.

I hope this book does really well; it deserves to and I'm already looking forward to the next Dan Temple adventure.

Despite never having read an adventure novel before, I was hooked right from the start. The characters are easy to relate to and the action packed storyline keeps you turning the pages in anticipation of the next suspenseful moment.

I found myself torn between wanting to know what happens next and not wanting to finish the book because I was enjoying it so much.

A cracking book. Can't wait to read the next Dan Temple adventure.
